ChemCapital
Early product scoping
An AI procurement platform for process equipment started from a scoped MVP rather than a feature list.
Situation
ChemCapital is building a procurement platform for process-equipment sourcing across pharma, chemical and industrial manufacturing: supplier discovery, structured RFQs, quotation comparison and order tracking.
Complication
Early products in wide domains die of scope. Equipment sourcing touches engineering, purchasing and compliance at once, and a first release cannot serve all of it.
Resolution
ASE supported the early product and MVP scoping: which workflows the first release serves, which it explicitly does not, and in what order the rest follows.
Product scoping
The sourcing workflows mapped from first inquiry to purchase order, drawing on the team’s own procurement delivery experience across pharma and industrial programmes. The map identified where buyers actually lose time in equipment sourcing: finding qualified suppliers, comparing quotations that never arrive in the same structure, and keeping an auditable record of why a supplier was chosen.
MVP definition
A first release cut to what proves the platform’s value: structured RFQs and comparable quotations, with a stated sequence for what follows and a written list of what was deliberately left out. Scope lines were documented so future feature pressure argues against a decision, not into a vacuum.
