Superrays imports two- and three-wheelers into Sierra Leone on negotiated factory terms rather than trader mark-ups.
Situation
Motorcycles and motorised tricycles carry much of Sierra Leone’s daily mobility, and nearly all of that fleet is imported from Chinese manufacturers.
Complication
Buying at distance is where import ventures fail: factories, specifications and prices all need verification before commitment, and the cost of a wrong container is a season’s margin.
Resolution
ASE runs supplier qualification and contract negotiation directly with the manufacturers: factory shortlisting, specification and pricing cycles to checklist, and commercial terms negotiated at the source, with Henan Niegui and BFYS among the qualified suppliers.
Factory qualification
Manufacturers in Henan province shortlisted and verified before negotiation: company registration, production evidence, export track record and the difference between a factory and a trading company established up front. Specification and pricing cycles
Model specifications and pricing worked through checklist cycles: engine capacity, build configuration, spare-parts packages and unit pricing pinned in writing before commitment, so what is ordered is what arrives in Freetown. Spare-parts availability is treated as part of the product, because a tricycle without parts becomes scrap on a schedule.
Contract negotiation
Commercial terms negotiated directly with the factories, removing intermediary margin from the landed cost. Payment terms, production timelines and shipping obligations are contracted explicitly, with the documentation standard the venture will need again on every following order.
